Revisions & moderation

How to change a live course: revisions, preview, what buyers see

Why revisions exist

When a course is already approved, buyers use the current version. Direct catalog edits would show a mix of old and new content. Edits go into a revision — draft of the next version. The catalog and active students keep the old version until an admin approves the revision.

First-time moderation checks the whole course from draft. Revision is only for an already live course.

How it works

Approved course (version N in catalog)
        ↓ you edit
Revision draft (version N+1)
        ↓ Submit revision for moderation
Revision pending review
        ↓ approve / reject
Catalog updates (N+1) or stays at N

Revision statuses: draft → pending → approved / rejected. While pending, you can withdraw and keep editing.

Video posters in revisions

Lesson posters (poster_url, thumbnail_time_seconds) are stored on revision videos while a revision is in draft. After approval they copy to live course_videos. See Video posters and thumbnails.

Step by step: copy or price

  1. Open an approved course → Edit.
  2. Change text, price, goals, chat, etc. — changes go to the active revision.
  3. Optional: open private preview of the revision.
  4. Click Submit revision for moderation.
  5. After approval (usually a few business days) buyers see the new version; new purchases use the new price.

Step by step: replace a video

  1. Manage videos → Replace clip on a workout.
  2. On an approved course, replacement goes into the revision, not live catalog immediately.
  3. Submit the revision — see Videos & library.

“Start revision” button

Use when preparing a large update and you want a clear separate draft. Same flow: accumulate → submit → wait for approval.

Revision rejected

  1. Read the comment on the course page.
  2. Fix the revision draft.
  3. Resubmit.

Rejected drafts are not visible to buyers.

Archive

Archive hides the course from new sales. Unarchive and submit for moderation again. Existing buyers may keep access per access duration and platform rules — state this in your course description.

Common mistakes

  • Assuming editor changes reach students immediately — revision must be approved.
  • Replacing all videos but not submitting the revision.
  • Mixing course rejected on first submit with revision rejected.
